Repurposed military jackets combined with up-cycled handwoven Güipil. Each Güipil is carefully woven by hand and can take up to 6 months
for the artisan to create. The process begins with cleaning and spinning the cotton, dying the fibers with fruits or vegetables and finally transferred to
a backstop loom. Thread by thread these beautiful pieces are created. Each Güipil can make 2 jackets. There will only be 2 ever created with that exact pattern as no 2 Güipel can ever be created exactly the same.
The jackets have raw edges and have been worn to perfection. Because Güipel is handmade and up-cycled you will notice tiny “flaws.” We celebrate these tiny imperfections as they are what make each piece truly unique.
Handmade with love by the world's finest artisans.
****Please note - All of the fabric has been worn by indigenous women. Many are in like-new condition. This particular piece has a small light beige mark on the fabric. For that reason, the price is lower. If you would like a better photo of the mark in question please email us PRIOR to purchase. Please also note the label inside the jacket reads medium but the jacket has been altered to fit an xs/small
